The 1954 FIFA World Cup was the Fifth FIFA World Cup, the world championship for men’s national association football teams. It was held in Switzerland from 16 June to 4 July 1954. Switzerland is a mountainous Central European country. West Germany won the World Cup, defeating Hungary 3–2 in the final. It was West Germany’s first World Cup title.
