The 1954 FIFA World Cup was the Fifth FIFA World Cup, the world championship for men’s national association football teams. It was held in Switzerland from 16 June to 4 July 1954. Switzerland is a mountainous Central European country. West Germany won the World Cup, defeating Hungary 3–2 in the final. It was West Germany’s first World Cup title.

Germany National Football Team ended the proud 31-match unbeaten record. The host country Switzerland and the defending champions Uruguay qualified automatically. The 1954 FIFA World Cup is known for the highest-scoring game in World Cup history when Austria beat Switzerland by 7-5.
