The 1958 FIFA World Cup was the sixth staging of the World Cup, the world championship for men’s national association football teams. This was held in Sweden from 8 June to 29 June 1958.

Sweden is a Scandinavian nation with thousands of coastal islands and inland lakes, along with vast boreal forests and glaciated mountains.

Its principal cities, the eastern capital Stockholm and the southwestern Gothenburg and Malmö, are all coastal. Stockholm is built on 14 islands. It was the First World Cup Broadcast on Television. Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Sweden expressed interest in hosting the tournament.

The tournament was won by Brazil, who beat Sweden 5–2 in the final.  Brazil won their first-ever trophy in FIFA World Cup History, defeating Sweden 5-2 in the final.

This tournament marked the emergence of Pelé, who was just 17 years old at the time. He completed a hat-trick in the semifinal against France and scored two goals in the final match against Sweden.
