The 1974 FIFA World Cup was the 10th staging of the World Cup, the world championship for Men’s National association Football Teams. This was held in West Germany from 13 June – 7 July (25 days).
West Germany was chosen as the host nation by FIFA in London. West Germany is the common English name for the Federal Republic of Germany. The Country was selected to host the 1972 Summer Olympics. The most popular sport in the city is football. In the 20th century, association football became the most popular sport in Germany. The Germany team won the 1954 FIFA World cup.
West Germany played against the Netherlands in the final and won the match 2–1, defeating another one-time former champion. Grzegorz Lato was the most successful player of the tournament.
