Earlier known for his heroics, the star from the squad of the current world champions Germany, non-other than Thomas Muller has now added another record to his list. Thomas Muller took his Bundesliga tally to 100 goals. Muller hits 100th Bundesliga goal to help Bayern Munich stretch its league lead even further by 16 points.
Bayern Munich finished the weekend at the top of the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich thrashed Werder Bremen by 4-2 in a dramatic win on Sunday in Allianz Arena.
Mueller’s 100th Bundesliga goal as Bayern gets 16-point lead
Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller both claimed goals in Sunday’s win over visitors Werder Bremen, while Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey scored a back-heeled goal.
With this victory, Bayern Munich is looking on course to secure the Bundesliga title this season in record time.
Werder Bremen punished Bayern for their bad start to the game and took a shock lead after 24 minutes when Jerome Gondorf squeezes the ball past Sven Ulreich, through the goalkeeper’s legs.
However, the visitors were not able to hold their lead until half-time.
Thomas Muller, plucked out the air with an outstanding touch, bringing Bayern back onto level terms just before the break.
Just 15 minutes after the restart, Robert Lewandowski, who had missed Bayern’s last match with a knee injury, put Bayern 2-1 ahead with a powerful header in the 63rd minute.
An own-goal from Niklas Suele gave Bremen renewed hope when Bremen leveled the score by 2-2. But Lewandowski grabbed his league-leading 17th goal of the season in the 76th minute with yet another header and again puts the Bayern in lead.
Bayern still found time to get on the scoresheet yet again before the full-time whistle. Muller sealed it late with his second of the game off a ball over the top from James.
Bayern is above all failures. It is above the rest of the Bundesliga. And that isn’t changing anytime soon. It is now hard to drop them down from the top position as Bayern Munich is in 16-points lead.
