According to the report, FIFA says club América or LAFC could have a Club World Cup team, which will join as the 32nd team of the tournament.

Grupo Pachuca owns the Mexican club León and its sister club Pachuca. FIFA regulations prohibit more than one club owned by the same group from participating in the competition. Since both are owned by the same group, this club, Leon, was banned from the Club World Cup.
FIFA issued a statement confirming it is considering a playoff match between LAFC and America to replace but has not been formally notified by FIFA.
